Sun Yixian
Sun Yixian was known by many as the "first great Asian nationalist" and "the father of modern China". Yixian believed that the only way for China to become successful was for China to become a "Western Power" and adapt the ideas of the modern world. He did not agree with the Manchu dynasty's ways and believed that having that family in power was only holding the country as a whole back. He began to raise money and support for the "Save Chine League" in America and Europe. After returning to China, Yixian tried to start a revolt against the royal family which only resulted in him being sent to jail. After being released, he continued to spread his Three Principles of People, which were nationalism, democracy and socialism. He founded the "League of Common Alliance" based on these three principles. The Chinese Revolution resulted in the Manchu dynasty being overthrown much to Yixian's happiness. He was the "President of the United Providences of China" but resigned shortly after because he felt like that China must learn to Unite itself and sort out their differences. But this did not work and China became overtaken with warlords. Although his plan may not have turned out the way he hoped, Yixian made a lasting impact on China and the world.
