Mussolini- Rise of Fascism
Benito Mussolini was born in July of 1883 in northern central Italy. The lack of work for black smithing in Italy led him to move to Switzerland where he became involved in social politics. When he came back to Italy he began to work for a socialist newspaper. His support for Italy entering WWI however led him to take a break from his writing and join the effort.
When he returned he ended up forming the Fascist Party to excite support for unemployed veterans. He formed them into armed squads called "Black Shirts" who then terrorized any political opponents.
By October, Italy was chaotic. With the Black Shirts under Mussolini's command it seemed that he was the only one who could stop them from creating total chaos.
As Mussolini slowly broke down the remainder of the democratic system, he announced himself as dictator. In an attempt to make Italy a world power once more Mussolini began to invade other countries. He provided military support as well as siding with Nazi Germany. Under Hitler's influence he even started to create some anti Jewish laws for Italy. All was going well until Mussolini declared war on France and Britain which exposed their military weaknesses, leading to a series of defeats. When the Allies attacked Italy Mussolini was overthrown and imprisoned by his old Fascist colleagues. He was later rescued by the Germans but was shot in 1945 while escaping to Switzerland.
